My name

Hi! I'm Ayumi. Today, I talked about meanings of our names in class. It was really interesting, so I'll teach the meaning of my name. My name is Ayumi Nakano: あゆみ 中野, but Japanese say our last name at first. The order that say name is different from English. In Japan, my name is 中野 あゆみ. My last name, Nakano means "Inside field". "中" expresses inside. "野" expresses field. It is interesting, isn't it? My first name don't have chinese characters. It is only "Hiragana". My mother named my first name. My first name, Ayumi means that walking step by step happily. It is a good meaning, isn't it? I like my name. In Japan, our last name are decided since when we were born. How about your country? I'm interested in it. I want to know meaning of your name. Please tell me. I'm looking forward to your reply.

I like your first name!! That's very cheerful.
Our last names are also decided before we are born. Typically, we take our father's last name, even if the parents are not married. Or sometimes they do a combined last name like "Jessica Smith-Brown" where Smith is one parent's last name and Brown is the other parent's last name. I wrote about my last name in Hito's blog and my first name in Sato's blog so I will tell you about my middle name. I know in Japan you usually do not have a middle name! My middle name is Kaori or ”かおり”. My mom told me it means "fragrant flower". What do you think it means? I really like my middle name and I have been thinking about switching my first name with that so people call me Kaori.
